The coastguard station was built c. 1880 and was decommissioned in1922 becoming derelict soon after. It was extensively reconstructed and extended (left side of the building) in 2001 and has since been re-roofed with alterations. The building was surveyed for inclusion in the list of protected structures and recorded by the NIAH in 2002 under REG NO 21308703 but no longer appears in their records.
