my grandmothers grandfather was based here 1860's- 1870's.he served in navy through crimean war. and was coast guard scotland, liverpool and cork. Thomas william devine 1829-1898.

My great - grandfather, John Flynn was stationed here from around 1880 to 1883-84.
He was Chief Boatswain-in-charge, and he was involved in a rescue in 1881 and for which he received the Lloyds Bronze Medal for Lifesaving, which I have in my possession. It was in my late father's possession until I inherited it on his death in 1991.
