I'm looking for info in regards an ancestor, Thomas Sliney, a coast guard that went on to serve in WWI. He was from Cappa who served on the HMS Warspite during the Battle of Jutland. I believe he died 30 August 1968. His parents were Mary Sliney (d.9 Sep 1920 aged 75) and Thomas Sliney, who was a coast guard himself (d.15 Nov 1920 aged 74 years). He had one sister, Minnie, who died June 25th 1975. Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi, and welcome to the Forum I'm not sure if this refers to the same Thomas Sliney (snr), but there is an entry on the GENUKI Coastguard site: http://www.genuki...rds/S.html I have also recorded that the above Thomas (born Cork) served on HMS Royal George during the Crimean War. He was awarded the Baltic Medal that was sent to Falmouth on 21 April 1857. Can you give some indication of what information you are after? Martin |

Hi Martin, thanks for the prompt reply. Basically after any information regarding Thomas Sliney, serving on the HMS Warspite during WWI. I know he was (chief?) gunner during the Battle of Jutland, and would basically like to know what happened to him. He died 30 August 1968. I know very little of Thomas Snr (d.15.11.1920). |
