Photo of G/Grandfather John Cashman, Coastguard and wife Hanora taken around 1872 in Newry Co. Down. John was stationed at Kilkeel, Co. Down at this time and had moved from Barry, South Wales (stationed there in 1871 per Coastguard Census). Served in Northern Ireland (Kilkeel, Carlingford, Cranfield Point and Greencastle until retirement in 1890 to live in the Coastguard cottages in Arklow, Co/ Wicklow. Served on numerous ships - Resistance (1873), Vanguard (1873 - 75), Iron Duke (1875 - 77), Topaze (1877 - 78), Hercules (1878), Belleisle (1878 - 1890).
