I am researching into Birchington Coast Guard Station in Kent around 1914. Does anyone know of an English Coast Guard site that would be helpful? Grateful for any assistance Thank you Mike mikegunnillATmacDOTcom |

Mike The only English sites I know of are the Genuki CG site covering CG's in the 1841-1891 cenuses, and one devoted to men who served on the Isle of Sheppey, but this again has mostly information take from the Censuses. To be honest it is an awkward time period to research as the last available census is 1911, also it is at the start of the Great War, so many men could have found themselves serving in the Fleet. A good deal depends on the information you are after. If it relates to one man's service, your best bet is his Service Record at the National Archives, or some of the later records held in the ADM 175 series, available as free downloads from the National Archives.
