hi im trying to find any info on my great grandad as a coastguard in alnmouth, england. charles f middleton was born 1857 in stevenage 1881 census shows him on board h.m.s.adder as an a.b. by 1891 census he was a boatman, coastguard at alnmouth, northumberland and lived coastguard station i travelled to alnmouth but nothing there now i would love to know what duties he carried out and if there is any article about him can anyone please help thankyou |

Hi, and welcome to the Forum. In your post you only mention information gathered from the Census, have you downloaded CFM's service record from the National Archives. I checked, and there are two entries, one pre the other post 1873: http://www.nation...5Fdate+asc These would provide you with details of all the ships he served on, and could give information regarding his CG service. hi martin thanks for welcome im not very good on pc and too many links often end up having me very confused. the link you have sent me is an enormous help and i am at this very moment downloading all the info on my great grandad. i cant believe that i have found such a great site thankyou very much for all your help  |
