I live in Cork. Some years ago I was given 7 old Admiralty charts of the Irish Coast published by J D Potter. They are each in a hard cover with the name W. V. MAHONY JUNr. embossed thereon as well as the name of the relevant piece of coast line. The charts are corrected up to 1886. I found in the 1911 census a William Mahoney (sic) aged 59, retired Chief Officer Coast Guard living in Cork with his family. Is it reasonale to conclude that these charts were his as part of his tools for the job? Does anyone recognise the name of this man? Edited by Saffy1 on 11/02/2010 16:24 |
