Thomas Rendle

Hi Guys,
I was in touch a couple of years ago, and Martin was extremely helpful with information regarding my great grand father Thomas Rendle who was in the coastguards. He was on Gunns Island at the 1901 census with his wife Beatrice, children Beatrice, Thomas and William. Thomas snr was in the Royal Navy for about 16 dying while still in the Coastgoards in 1901 of heart disease. My questions are, does Gunns island still exist and if he died while in service where would he have been buried? In the 1901 census a boy William was about 8 months (born County Down) with his parents on Gunns Island, would the CG have any info about him? Their mother Beatrice appears to have returned to the UK and remarried in 1902.

Also, Thomas snr was awarded four medals which I had listed in a prior thread (you may or may not still have it on record). Thomas jnr went on to service in the merchant navy after spending his childhood in the Brixham Seamans Orphanage in the UK. He was awarded 2 medals My mother has the medals in her possession and would consider selling them possibly.

Any info you could give me would be great or a suggestion as to who to approach re selling the medals.

Thanks, Robyn
