Looking for information on a Brown family who were coastguards in Achill Island in the mid 1800s. As the children were born there it is most likely that the father was a coastguard. Have no more information at the moment. Margaret |

Have found all the information on John Brown, he was my g-grandfathers elder brother born in 1795. I have been in touch with the descendants

Have discovered that his son William was also a coastguard, William was born in Co Sligo in 1826 and served in England, it looks like he never married. He died in Achill in 1899.![]() |

Helo Margaret Here are two Church of Ireland Baptismal records:- Prudence Brown of John and Elizabeth. Baptized 16 March 1841. Coastguard at Boley Glen. Achill. Co.Mayo. Lewis Brown of John and Elizabeth Bapt. January 1846. Coastguard at Boleyglen. Achill. Co.Mayo. Regards Tony |
