I am trying to trace my G Grandfathers service record. The only information I have is from his children's birth details. 1870 stationed in Sligo. 1876-1879 stationed in Ballyshannon Coastguard Station. Described as a coastguard boatman. He died on a visit to Glasgow in 1900 and his death Cert. gave a home address as Thomond Gate Limerick and stated that he was a coastguard pensioner. I have tried to find any info on a visit to Kew but had no luck. As he would only have been 28 years old when he was in Sligo would Sligo have been a first posting after service in the navy? Was there a policy of moving coastguards around the coast. Any help or suggestions on where else I can look would be much appreciated. James L Sullivan

All the Best Hugh PS From your other post: - http://www.coastg...read_id=86 I am not sure if you have already been to Kew. Edited by HughVaugh on 20/02/2008 10:29 |
