Irish Coastguard station identification 1845
Olduser1
My family history has taken me back to 1800's when my ancester James Davidson b 1801 Scotland worked as a Coastguard. Using the National Archives ADM 175/100 page 21
I found his record below;
James Davidson Boatman - Residence Cairn Ryan - transfer 17th Nov 1845 to new
Station looks like CLOGHY - could this be Cloughy, Co Down?

please see photo below

is not a valid Image.

Would appreciate any help with the identification of correct Station.

Also i thought Cairn Ryan was nr Stranraer, Scotland.
I have some of his service history prior to 1845 when he was located in Isle Of Whithorn/ Glenluce/Hastings/Martello Tower 36.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum.

To pick up your man at Cloghy you need to download ADM 175/19 (pdf 408). You are quite correct, he had previously been working at Cairnryan (ADM 175/22 pdf 96), and prior to that at Lamlash.

Many thanks for the link I now have an almost complete history of his station postings 1822 to 1860.
