I am researching my husband's family history and his grandfather, James McCullough, who was a sailor, died in 1909. His last address for by his family home in Belfast, N. Ireland, was the SS Topic. I wondered if someone knew anything about this ship. It is believed he may have died on the ship but I haven't been able to establish that until I find someone who knows something about the SS Topic. Help would be appreciated. |

Could the name be SS Tropic ? The White Star line had a number of SS Tropic's - one of which was built in Harland & Wolff in 1904. James McCullough may have been a merchant seamen and so some of his trips (& ships) would be logged see http://www.irishmariners.ie/ |

Thank you for this information. This could be the answer. When he died in 1909 whoever completed the death details could have picked up the name Topic by mistake. I will try to find information on the SS Tropics. Regards Liz |
