The naval history of my Great Grandfather Henry Herbert Kemp (1849-1931) reveals he had a number of postings as Coastguard from 1878 to 1904, four of which were in Ireland. We are touring the Limerick area in mid September to add some detail to my research and any information associated with the following dates would be appreciated.: He arrived at Tarbert as Chief Boatman in charge on December 1st 1887 with his wife Emma and three children (Henry b1880, Mabel b1883 and Ada b1884). A fourth child (Herbert) was born at Tarbert sometime during 1890. As yet I have no birth / Christening details for him. On December 25th 1891 he arrived at Seafield as Chief Officer On January 4th 1892 he arrived Crookhaven From June 10th 1894 to August 10th 1896 he was stationed at Castletownsend and subsequently returned to England Kind regards, Bryan |
