 Roberts Cove rescue 20th October 1881

On having read a report on a rescue at Roberts Cove, Co.Cork on 20th October 1881 I wish to point out that my great-grandfather, John Flynn, who was Chief-Boatwain in charge at the time of this rescue was awarded a Loyd's Bronze Medal for his part in this rescue on 30th November 1881. I have that Bronze Medal in my possession as it was handed down to me by my father, John David O'Flynn, the grandson of John Flynn. |
