TRYING TO FIND INFO ON THE ABOVE GENTLEMAN. HE WAS BORN ABT 1852 IN IRELAND AND SERVED THERE AS A COASTGUARD UNTIL CONTINUING IN ENGLAND. HE FIRST APPEARS ON THE UK CENSUS AT LITTLEHAM DEVON IN 1891. BY THE 1901 CENSUS HE WAS A CHIEF COASTGUARD AT BOVISANDS PLYMOUTH. FROM FAMILY HISTORY HE SERVED ALL OVER IRELAND INCLUDING ARAINN (INIS MOR). HIS NAME IS CARVED ON FLAGSTONES OUTSIDE THE NOW POST OFFICE ON INISH MOR. DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE CAN SUBSTANTIATE THIS AND ALSO ANY OTHER INFO ON HIS SERVICE. MACKE |

Hi Macke Below is a link to the National Archives online index of seaman's service records, from the information you have provided I believe this is your man. If you do purchase the actual service record (£3.50) this should provide details of his naval service from 1872 e.g. ships/stations served, dates, naval rank, together with a physical description, date and place of birth. http://www.nation...ultcount=3 Regards Martin |
