The above is was my grandfather. We never met him because he died in 1937 we think. We know very little about him as most of my family have died. I don't even know where he is buried. I am of the understanding he was a Coastguard in Filey, East Yorkshire after leaving the Navy We as a family would be very grateful for any information or advice where to obtain information, if you are able to help. Many thanks anyway if you take the time to read this Elizabeth Hamon |

Hi Elizabeth Armed with the additional information in your last post I have done a little more digging. During WW1 he qualified for, and received, the 1914-15 Star, Victory and British War Medals, the medal roll shows him as a Leading Boatman with the Tees Division of HM CG. I have also found him in ADM 175/86 (pdf 309 of 429), this provides details of his service from 1919 until September 1922, when he was discharged from the CG Service. During this time he appears to have remained at Scarborough CG Station. It also provides a pension number - 19512. How useful this may prove to be I've no idea, having never tried to trace a man using this information. However, if these records do still exist they may provide details as to where the pension was paid, and a date of death. http://www.nation...ension.htm Martin Edited by crimea1854 on 26/02/2011 10:32 |
