Modern Coastguards - WW2

UK CG records later than 1923 are not held at TNA in Kew. Where are they please?

Control of the Service changed hands 6 times after 1923, so it will depend upon your time zone. According to TNA:

<Board of Trade 1923-1939
Ministry of Shipping 1939-1940
Admiralty 1940-1945
Ministry of (War) Transport 1945-1964
Department of Trade 1964 - 1983
Department of Transport (now Dept. for the Environment, Transport and the Regions.) 1983 to date.

Because the Coastguard has been administered by so many departments, documents relating to the service are widely scattered among the public records. There is no single index of names of persons or places, though some classes have fairly comprehensive means of reference.>

There are a limited number of Service Records post 1923 in ADM 175, which for Chief Officers extend to 1947. This is only according to the National Archives website, I've never actually consulted them myself, so don't know how useful they might be.
