Hi Tony, i have tried to reply to your private message but they don't seem to be sending and i'm getting an e-mail saying the messages won't be read. In response to your message i haven't really settled on any particular stations. i'll wait until i see the drawings at the National Archives next week. i do have Courtmacsherry, Ballycotton, Crosshaven, Poor Head, Roches Point and Dirk Cove/Galley Head in mind. I've also come across some published material on stations that you might be interested in - Paul M Kerrigan, 'Irish Coastguard Stations 1858-67', Irish Sword vol. 14 (1980-82), pages 103-105. Kerrigan also mentions them in his book Castles and Fortifications in Ireland 1485-1945 (1995), page 263 |
