Coastguard Chaplains
maccer
I'm wondering what the arrangements for religious personal there were in the Coastguard. As many of the men and their families would have been Church of England what was the set up for ability to attend church services. For many of the more remote stations in Ireland would there have been any access to church, were there any coastguard chaplains, priests, rectors, vicars etc in the service like there are in other military branches.
Also may seem like a long shot but were there any chapels etc. incorporated into any of the stations or any provided for the various stations.

Hi maccer,
If you read the memoir by my great-grandfather Frederick Ashby (See Articles)
there's a reference to Protestant services being conducted in a house fairly near the Rosslare Coastguard Station. Apparently the men even practiced the hymns too - it was a more religious age! My notes at the end of the Article give a little detail resulting from my cousin's research on this. Elisabeth
I'll be interested to see what else you find out on this topic.
