Hello To All: Since I joined today I thought it best to at least post and say hello. I actually stumbled onto this website by accident while 'googling' the name of a chap whose Egypt medal I bought last week. (see the subject name above). Although I do not collect British campaign medals I could not pass this one up because of its condition. This medal is now in the post to me and I have already downloaded his SR and several other items pertaining to him. I have not as yet had the time to do a decent write up but if anyone has an interest in ALFRED BEANEY I would be more than happy to share what I already have. All it would take is a PM or an email. I look forward to exploring this site and learning ... because one never has enough knowledge. Marty |

Hi Marty, I never pas by a 1901or 1911 Census record of a Navy Pensioner living near a Coastguard station because he could be a Coastguard Pensioner. In 1901 Co.Down 111/31. 111 Bangor, 31 Ballygrott at No.63 is Alfred Beaney born England Age 42 Coastguard Pensioner with wife Agnes and eight children. In 1911 Co.Down 112/30. 112 Bangor. 30 Ballygrott.at No.57 is Alfred Beaney Born England Age 53. Naval Pensioner with wife Agnes and six children, hey were married 27 years and had twelve chldren, nine are alive at 1911. I will copy out both Census returns and send them to you if you are interested. Regards Tony |

Hello Tony: Appreciate the reply and the offer of the censuses. I have a copy of the 1911 but would appreciate the 1901. I also have a copy of a document he signed relating to Home Rule, which is something that I know absolutley nothing about. Just by a quick look at his SR it appears he put in 40 years total with all VG or better character ratings. I will PM my regular email address to you & if you would like to see his SR and Home Rule document you need only to ask. It appears that a medal that I bought solely for its condition is turning out to be one of interest. Marty |

Tony: Thanks for that information. That service record is from when he joined on Jan. 22, 1879 all the way up to and past him coming to Ireland. Marty |
