Samuel ROSS Donegal and Moray

G'day from the South West Pacific, my name is Peter and I am researching my 2 x Great Grandfather Samuel ROSS born Hillhall, Drumbo, County Down 12 March 1790 and his first wife Jane BROWN born circa 1798 Drumbeigh, County Donegal,. married at Church of Ireland, Killybegs Upper 2 Nov 1823.


Samuel ROSS went to sea in 1812 (Seaman's Ticket number 157437 National Archives BT 113 / 79) and later joined the Coastguard and was posted (ref ADM 115/15 page 140) from Downpatrick, Down, to Teillen Harbour East, Donegal, July 1822 and in Aug 1826 was transferred to Daurus, Killybegs.

From Daurus transferred to Scotland date of removal 14 Aug 1826 to unknown Station, and then to Lossiemouth Coastguard Moray Scotland 7 Jun 1828.(ref ADM 175 / 3 page 236)

Jane ROSS nee BROWN of Drumbeigh, died at Lossiemouth 8th March 1831 aged 33 years, also their daughter Elizabeth born Scotland, who died 10th April 1831 aged 1 year and 6 months. (Ref Ki 128 , Kinneddar Churchyard, Drainie, Moray, Scotland)

ROSS. Eleanor of Samuel and Jane. Baptised 8th.December 1824.Father's Occupation, Coastguard. At Muckross. Parish Kilkcar. County Donegal.

ROSS. Jane of Samuel and Jane. Baptised 18th.February 1827. Father Coastguard. At Killybegs. Parish Killybegs. County Donegal.

I have no date for Samuels arrival at Downpatrick, or where he was posted to in Scotland prior to Lossiemouth, any information on how to obtain it would be appreciated.
