hello literally just registered and overwhelmed with info available!
my query relates to above person
depicted as receiving coast guard
pension in 1901 Census Kilmore.
Age is given as 62 but suspect significantly older. Place of birth recorded as Svetlana Dundee. Can anyone please
supply info as to service details.

Hi George and welcome to the Forum.

Below is a link to Seaman's Records at the National Archives, I believe the last man on the list is your Thomas. However, it is posible that the next man up is a relative, given that the older Thomas was a CG in Ireland.

fantastic reponse Martin. I am on the case already. Info revealed as I suspected Thomas was older than
shown in 1901 Census. Now know he came off roster on HMS Vanguard 5/6 weeks before she was lost.
Following up Hercules and Belleisle
Kilmore and Dronaghadee leads.
again many thanks

Hi George

Glad this provided a lead. I should have said that this record will only cover his service from 1873 onwards. You may well find that in the left hand corner of his record is a number prefixed 'CS'. If it is there, this would be his Service Record from the date of enlistment until 1873. The National Archives are currently working to have these available online, but until they are available you have to order them, or consult them at the NA,
