John BULEY stationed at Kilmore Morriscastle and Howth
DB
I am looking for any information on John Buley (b 1 Jul 1858) and has family - his duties - where he might have lived - where his children went to school. He was a seaman in the Royal Navy before transferring to the Coastguard in 1888 and was initially posted to Sussex.

His service record shows he was a Commissioned Boatman when he was transferred to Kingstown Kilmore on 14 Aug 1891 and remained there until 24 Oct 1892. He then served at Morris Castle [Morriscastle] before being posted to Howth on 10 Jun 1894. It is not clear when he returned to England, but it was some time before 1901.

A bit of trivia for naval historians:

John was the father of Edward J Buley who served on the Titanic as an AB seaman. Edward survived the sinking as he was instructed to man lifeboat #10. Having survived one naval tragedy, Edward died serving on HMS Partridge when sunk on 12 Dec 1917 by German destroyers in the North Sea. As Edward was born in 1885, he would almost certainly have been living with his parents at the above Coastguard stations.

I would like to congratulate Tony and Philip for assembling a most interesting resource.
