Herne bay coastguard station 1841
carolyn
Hi, I am trying to trace Richard Thomas (William) Winterburn and his wife Harriet. Richard was at Sidmouth until 1841 then Herne Bay Station from 28/5/1841 until 30/11/1842 and then went to Shellness until 3/1/1844 and later to Cadmus.
I have found him in 1851 at Beaulieau Hampshire at Needs Oar Station.
I am trying to find any children he may have had with him.
Can anyone help , please.

Hi Carolyn

I am unable to answer your specific question, but wondered if you had obtain a copy of Richard's service record?

I did a search of the NA catalogue, and there was only one Richard Winterburn found. From the Geniuk website your man was born around 1809, the man found at the NA entered the navy in 1829 aged 19, which would suggest it is the same person. He served until 30th November 1861, and applied for a pension in 1857.

Below is a link to the NA catalogue entry, but I'm afraid you are going to have to cut and paste into your browser, because I just cannot seem to get these links to work!:
