Hi there, I have recently moved to Co. Mayo & was hoping to find out some information about my Great Grandad who was a coastguard stationed at Youghal in the late 1800's early 1900's. His name was Patrick O'Brien & was married to Hannah (Lewis), I know of 2 children who were my Grandad Patrick Joseph O'Brien born 5/4/1915 & his sister May. He moved to be a coastguard in Budleigh Salterton (Devon, UK) shortly after 1915. Many thanks, Brett

Hi my great great grandfather John Blackmore was a coastguard in Ireland. I believe he was born 1839 or 1840. I have his coastguard long service medal and a Naval pension document showing a pension number. The pension was being drawn in Portaferry County Down. He died 1/5/1906 and is buried in Cloghy. I believe he was from Devon . Would like to know where he was born , when he became a coastguard and where he was stationed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, and thanks for considering this. My GG Grandfather was reportedly in the Irish Coastguard for a period between 1848 and 1856 but I cannot find any record to confirm this. His name was Edward John (or John Edward) McCarry. He was born in Donegal (Co) abt 1833. Can anyone help?
