I am looking for information about this station about 1890. In particular Samuel Humphrey, Great Grandfather, who left in Nov 1892. I have an illuminated scroll, addressed to him, from the children of the local school where I believe his wife Julia taught. I do not any details of his length of duty. Incidently the old station was up for sale and redevelopment last year by Estate Agent Charles McCarthy, his brochure shows pictures of the site today. Some of the old cottages were still standing then. Thanks for any help. |

Hi Sarnian and welcome to the Forum. I do not know if this is your man, but the National Archive online seaman's records have a likely candidate born in 1846, see link below: http://www.nation...diaarray=* Also the 1901 Census has a Samuel Humphrey (Born 1848) at Alverstoke (Clay Hill) Hampshire, Coast Guard Station, which would tie in with your man leaving Glandore in 1892. He is shown as married, but his wife is not with him. Hope this is of some help, of course neither may be your man! With regard to Union Hall Station, I think Tony will be able to provide more info than I. Regards Martin |

Thank you, Samuel Humphrey, is our Great Grandfather. I have downloaded the record and it fills in a number of gaps and resolves a note on the copy of his birth certificate querying his birth date. If I can find any further details about his time in Ireland I will post them. Once again many thanks. |
