Hi Looking for anything on James McNeill ( there are many spelling variations of this surname ). He was born Cushendall Antrim abt 1836, his farther is recorded as a farmer named John. He married Margaret Harrison 1857 Portsea Hampshire. He joined the Royal Navy 1852-1868 serving on many vessels all over the world and from 1867-1888 was in the coastguard service, where he spent most of his time along the Hampshire coast. On his service record it states he spent some time in Prison civil power abt 1857 I think. He died 1890 Portsmouth his wife died 1916 Portsmouth. Any information would be gratefully received |
