This site is dedicated to the Coastguards who lived and worked around the Irish coastline between the 18th and early 20th centuries.
It includes a collection of CG station photos as well as facts and figures about the people , births, deaths, census information, etc. I have also included some fascinating accounts of bravery during rescues from shipwrecks as well as interesting Extracts of shipwrecks and rescues, etc. If you have any queries or input, please let me know.

About Coastguards of Yesteryear
This is a privately funded web resource owned and compiled by Tony Daly [Retd] from Dublin.
What started out as a hobby has turned into a minor obsession and is primarily dedicated to the Coastguards who lived and worked around the Irish coastline between the 18th and early 20th centuries as well as a genealogical reference source.
Its first web appearance was back in 2001 with a very small site and it has consistently grown larger over the years mainly from Tony's large personal collection of documents, texts, books, photos, etc.
The site has become quite popular with people from all the world, some genealogists both amateur and otherwise as well as visitors trying to track down a family member or information about a location.
The current site is now it's fourth 'generation' as it's just been recently upgraded in April of this year.
How the site looked back in 2001
It now has over 200 articles and census lists as well as over 300 photographs of stations and comtemporary life of the era. The newsletter has many regular readers from all over the world and has been highly commended. The site continues to be updated on a regular basis.

Burial Record Pre 1922
Many Church of Ireland Records in Dublin were destroyed by fire in 1922. However many original, and many copied Registers have survived .Here are some Burial Records from these survivors which relate to Coastguards and their families.

Article section - Medals
Posted by Philip
on 04 March 2008
Due to the interest in maritime medals, the article categories have been tweaked slightly. The "Bravery" category has been renamed "Medals" and the few non-medal bravery tales have been moved to the "Life and Times" category.
If anyone has any articles, stories or any medal related information they think would be relevant, please sent them in using the "Submit Article" link on the left.

We have just added a new photogallery - UK Stations. There are over 120 photos from all over the UK. However, we don't have much information about each location.
If any of our UK members has any information about a particular photograph, please post it in the comments box below it. We would also welcome any photo's you may have to add to the gallery.
