Malin Head December 1940
patcvb
On Dec 6 1940, the Dutch steamer SS Stolwijk went on the rocks off the north west coast of Donegal. She was part of a convoy and a British destroyer came to her assistance. We understand the destroyer could not help but radioed Malin Head to dispatch the Arranmore Lifeboat.
Is there any record of this communication or log of what boat and what time messages were exchanged? We don't know if they were in communication with the Stolwijk or destroyer.
I can say that my grandfather was on that lifeboat and rescued 18 men (10 others drowned in the tragedy).
It was 75 years ago and during the war so I don't hold out much hope of finding out this detail but I thought I would ask. We have a facebook page going here:

Any help would be gratefully received.
thanks for your time!
Regards
Pat
