Hello All: I am in the process of completing a write-up based on the SR of Alfred Beaney, as shown in another thread. The last entry on his SR states: President IV from 1 Oct 16 to 8 Apr 19. Can someone be kind enough to explain to me exactly what (I assume HMS) President IV was at that time. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Marty |

Hi Marty, and a belated welcome to the Forum. In answer to your question, HMS President IV was the London accounting base, in operation between 1918 and 1926, handling the accounts of the commands of the Coastguard ships and the Reserves. There is still an HMS President moored on the Thames Embankment today, in fact my father was on her last year for the submariners annual act of remembrance. Regards Martin |

Sorry Marty, I'm afraid I don't have an answer to that one. Martin Edited by crimea1854 on 01/04/2010 19:46 |
