(Interesting to note that there is no s at the end of the name) It would be appreciated if I could have the full service record of Thomas Griffith as I believe he served in Miltown Malbay in Co Clare as well as i...

I have an ancestor (Philip Foot) who was moved from Seven Heads to Sandy Cove in 1822. I have been looking through the Establishment Books to track his career.
There is an entry in ADM175/14 (Ireland 1820-1822] for Sandy Cove as a sub-heading under Old Head of Kinsale (Folio 13) and Philip is there. Then in ADM175/16 which covers later dates, Sandy Cove has its own page, though also sharin...

I have a recollection that somewhere I once read that in the early days of the Coast Guard service, when detection and prevention of smuggling was a major aim of the service, postings of staff were regularly rotated to prevent officers becoming too familiar with the local populace and thus more susceptible to involvement in smuggling.

Is this correct or have I just imagined it?!!

My great grandfather, William BROE, born in Dublin in 1856 joined the Royal Navy at the age of 16 in 1873. He served on various ships aiding the Coastguard service in Queenstown (now Cobh) and also later transferring to the Coastguard service. He initially served in England but towards the latter part of his service was in Ireland. He was stationed at Howe's Strand in Co. Cork between 1904 and ...

Wonder if anyone knows if there was a coastguard station at Dunnycove. I think a friends great grandfather, Henry Richard Smith, RN, was there circa 1880. Her grand father lists Dunnycove as his birthplace but spells it Doneycove.
Thank you for any help.

Hello from Australia
I am looking for any information/advice/connections to my great-great-great grandfather, Joseph Ward who I believe to have been a Coastguard at Robert's Cove, probably in the 1840s-1850s. His daughter, Jane Ward, married my, great-great grandfather, Michael Lyons in Cork in August 1857

Please advise if this request is not allowable in this group.

Kind regards

Hello,

Thank you for allowing me to join your community.

I am researching my family history and I THINK my great uncle Thomas Borrow, originally from Liverpool was a member of the Coastguard Service at Leysdown. I also am led to believe that he may have been involved with the rescue of the party of scouts during a rescue incident in August 1912.

In the vein hope that someone has knowl...

I am currently combining my interests of Local History and Genealogy (usually my own, but I’m at a brick wall!) by researching the Coastguard personnel who served in Ballymacaw Coastguard Station. My interest is because my family have, over 4 generations and almost a century, spent wonderful holidays there, and 3 of the single-stor...

[ Coastguards ] ADM 175 Series at Kew Archives

I have the Irish records from the ADM 175 Series at Kew Archives. The records for Coastguard Stations, Vessels and Districts seem to end in the late 1870s. I am wondering does anyone here know if records beyond 1870s exist anywhere, and if so where?

Any information appreciated.

Thanks
