Hi Tony, great to see your lists of Coast Guards in the Irish stations. I am trying to find my great-grandfather who worked in a few coast guard stations around Ireland. However, I wonder why his name did not appear on the 1880 list as his three children were born in Wexford in 1879, 1880 and 1881 when he was working in the same coast guard station at Kilmore. His name was William Totterdell. There is another William Totterdell (not sure if the same) who is also listed as a coast guard and all HIS children were born in the Dublin North district when he was working in Portrane and Clontarf Howth No. 2 in the years 1883, 1884, 1886, 1887, 1889 and 1891. Do you have any lists for any of these years and that you put on the computer or do you know where I might search for them? Many thanks, Anne Farrell
You do not appear to have William Henry Bennett listed
He was a coastguard at Dunmore East around 1883-6
His daughter Annie was born in Arthurstown in 1883
He was also a coastguard in Drogheda round about 1888 - 1893
Altogether he was a coastguard in Eire between 1883 and 1897
Charles H. Guard, on the Navy List 1880 is, I believe, my great great grandfather, Charles Wray Haddlesey Guard, who was born at Hope Cove, in Devon in 1825. His father James Guard, born 1801 in Gwinear, Cornwall, was a customs house officer/coastguard. Eustis.
H there, I trying to find out details of my great grandfather John Nolan who served as coast gaurd on the Kish Lightship and was disabled and pensioned sometime around 1890. Many Thanks
